A New Style Comes This Way
We are delighted to see that Alan Lambie is training in a new style of yoga and movement. As an ex-professional dancer having worked for Scottish Dance Theatre, danced for Kylie Minogue and the Pussy Cat Dolls, as well as having been a dance teacher at Kingston University, Alan brings his experience as a mover, a fantastic music sense, and intimate knowledge of yoga into a perfect fusion: Antara Flow.
Building on the idea that “vinyasa” means to place in a certain way, you will learn a sequence through smaller sections. It is like building a piece of music together, we break down the tricky bits, explore the phrases and then put it all together. Rather than being directed by the breath (necessarily) this style moves to the beat. Moving to the beat allows you to connect to the rhythm of the music and also regulate your own breathing. If you know that deep breathing is hard in a class, the beat can help with that!
The class builds towards the main track, with the class theme built around this piece and it is repeated a few times so it feels really in your body.
These classes are very popular in Europe and Asia and it is so exciting to know it is coming to the studio.
This exciting style is coming to the Autumn schedule on Thursdays from 6.00pm.
