Every Little Helps Us

We are calling out for votes to bag a share of Tesco’s community fund

Our Young Yogis Project is bidding to bag a massive cash boost from the Tesco Bags of Help initiative along with our other fundraising efforts.

Tesco teamed up with Groundwork to launch its community funding scheme, which sees grants of £4,000, £2,000 and £1,000 awarded to local community projects. greenspace scotland is working with Groundwork to provide support to communities in Scotland.

Three groups in every Tesco region have been shortlisted to receive the cash award and shoppers are being invited to head along to Tesco stores to vote for who they think should take away the top grant.

Heart Space is one of the groups on the shortlist.

Our Young Yogis Project was set up 5 years ago with the aim to bring Yoga to the communities of Dundee and welcome people to the studio for classes to help develop wellbeing, mindfulness, enjoyment of exercise, and healthy living.

When we began, we were running one kids class and a toddler class and have since developed to include:

  • a FREE Kids Yoga class for ages 5-12

  • a FREE Kids Aerial Yoga class for ages 8-12

  • a FREE Family Yoga class for ages 2-12 (and parents)

  • a subsidised Parent + Baby class

  • a subsidised Mum + Baby Barre class

  • a subsidised Pregnancy Yoga class

  • a term-time class for children with additional support needs

Every week our classes are on waitlists with more and more kids and families wanting to engage with what we do. We have seen kids develop and come out of their shell and are able to see them share their enjoyment of what we do together.

Last year, we were unsuccessful in receiving the funding grant we have used for the last few years, as the fund disappeared and we have been running the sessions from the income of our evening classes. To continue the project and to develop it further (because we have some great ideas to develop the project) we need your support!

Voting is open in all Tesco stores in May. Customers will cast their vote using a token given to them at the check-out in store each time they shop.

Bags of Help project has already delivered over £71 million to more than 23,000 projects across Britain. Tesco customers get the chance to vote for three different groups every time they shop. Every other month, when votes are collected, three groups in each of Tesco’s regions will be awarded funding.

We hope you help by voting for us when you shop! Make sure to pick up your blue token or ask for them!
